here you'll find a list of previous writing/art projects & prompts for anyone who is looking for a little inspiration. You don't have to give credit for it, but if you submit anything that you were inspired to create from this to the "PROMPTS" folder, the best ones (up to nine) from each month will be featured.
If you don't submit it to the prompts folder, I won't know that you are looking to have your work featured.

CREATIVE WRITING AND ART PROJECTS

:bulletblue:   (Creative writing/art project) #3

Like the previous two prompts, I'll give you a scene. But because I set the most basic of scenes that doesn't mean you can't do just about anything with your story. (And even if it doesn't end up fitting the guidelines of this contest, and you decide to leave out the rules I have stated, if it inspires you, that's awesome. Write something. It may not be eligible to win, but at least you would have written a new story.)

Your character is standing at the edge of a building, looking out or down. What is he or she looking at or for? Could be a post-apocalypse survivor, could be thinking of jumping. Maybe he or she is a sniper. Maybe she's waiting for a helicopter or spaceship to land. Could be any type of situation, sci fi, fantasy, horror or a mixture of the three. could be a cyborg, vampire, (non glittery) human, whatever.

The roof scene can comprise your whole story or just a tiny part. It doesn't have to start or end there, as long as a scene is present in your story with your main character standing at the edge of a building, looking out. Is it a skyscraper, or a gas station, a house or a supermarket? Could be a trailer or an apartment building. maybe it's not even on earth. The only limitation is that of your own imagination. What's going through his or her head? describe the environment, the situation. Give us a mood, make us feel it. What are the emotions going through your character's head? Is he or she a victim or a bad guy? A hero or a coward?

:bulletred:   1500 to 5000 words.

:bulletred:   It can be whatever genre as long as it's dark in some way.

:bulletred:   As always, no glittery vampires, but scary vampires are allowed. :)

:bulletred:   Images are allowed as entries, but must be of a person at the edge of a building and must tell or at least hint at a story.

:bulletred:   NO FAN ART OR FAN FICTION. I don't have a problem with that stuff and even do some fan art myself from time to time, but not in this group.

:bulletblue:   (Creative writing/art project) #2

:bulletred:   1.) 1rst element: Public transport. Alright at some point in the story the main character must interact in some way with a form pf public transportation. Don't view this as a major restriction. It could be anything from a citi bus to a taxi cab to a flight between planets, or even an experimental portal between worlds. Who knows? The limits literally lie with you. The character could be traveling somewhere, maybe on the way to do something bad, or maybe starting over on a new planet if it's scifi. Or maybe he/she is waiting at the airport or bus stop... or space port, to pick someone up. Maybe it's late at night, only you'll know this stuff and maybe it will be far outside of what even I have thought of as examples here. Keep in mind that the source of public transport does not have to be the whole story. It can just be the pick up point or the end, or a brief mention along the way. It doesn't have to be a strong part of the plot.
2nd element: It should take place on or around Halloween.
:bulletred:   2.)  1500 to 5000 words.
:bulletred:   3.)  As usual no fan fiction or fan art.
:bulletred:   4.)  Describe environment and people in it. With such a small requirement, just about any of your favorite monsters could populate this story. Explain character's emotions, intentions, appearance. We should understand the character as much as is possible for short story format. Story should be dark. The character doesn't necessarily have to be evil, but it wouldn't hurt, or he/she could be the victim or a witness, innocent bystander, etc... Up to you.
:bulletred:   5.)  Images: Images are allowed, as usual. Remember this stuff should be dark in some way, but if you can come up with a photo or photo-manipulation  digital painting, drawing, whatever, that portrays something along these lines, it will be eligible. An image should tell a story of its own, even if it's just implied in the details. You could even go as far as to type something up in the description that tells more about what's going on.

:bulletblue:   (Creative writing/art project) #1

How about a creative project for art and writing, maybe even photo or photo-manipulation. I guess it could apply to any kind of art, but outside of writing it could get more challenging.

Think of a setting, how about a park? Your character is sitting on a bench. Describe what is going through his or her head, what are his or her motivations? They should be dark in nature. There is no requirement for this other than that. You'll need to describe the environment and the people who may be in it. It shouldn't be over 3000 words, but I'll accept up to 5000 if necessary. I'd say minimum of 1500. For images, you just have to be more creative. Facial expressions, posture, lighting, should all reflect enough that we can all get a story - or at least the hint of one - out of it.

The image should speak to us, and of course, the story should give us enough about the character you are creating that we know what is going on. I made this scenario up for a writing project years ago and it was amazing what some people came up with. with just this basic information. The intention is to inspire you into writing your own unique story based on a basic starter scene, to get you writing on demand. If you give it a chance, you'l probably be surprised what you can come up with.

Overview. 1500 to 5000 word short story. (any type of image that fits within the requirements will be accepted as well.)
:bulletred:   1. - Describe environment and people in it.
:bulletred:   2. - Explain character's emotions, intentions, appearance. We should understand the character as much as is possible for short story format. (as I said, images will be more challenging for this, but it could be done.)
:bulletred:   3. - story should be dark. The character doesn't necessarily have to be evil, but it wouldn't hurt.
